First Grown Up Summer 2011

I have never expected a cinematic backing-pack tramp through Europe to punctuate moving on to the next plane.

The plane where a Bachelors degree means that I am qualified to scan your groceries.

The plane were I watch videos like “Imagining the 10th dimension” while I scarf down an organic, free-range, local pint of lavender-vanilla ice cream that is actually called nice-cream and is totally worth $8.50.

The plane where I long for everything current to last longer because what is ahead is an unfamiliar haze that smells like mildew.

Or is that just my shower?

That I spend 30 minutes in contemplating my day-to-day activities rather than going through the motions of these activities which may be the key to the next plane that looks brighter and greener and not so.

I wrote this in August. I need you to know that it isn't true.
